This estate enjoys a magnificent setting of mountains, forest, lake and parkland and yet is only 11 miles (18 km) from Galway city, capital of Ireland’s western province of Connaught. The luxurious main house dates from the 16th-century, and has an indoor heated swimming pool. All rooms are elegantly furnished and superbly comfortable, with wonderful views of the lake or garden. This was originally the property of the Martin family, a celebrated member being Violet Martin, who, as Martin Ross, with her cousin Edith Somerville, wrote 'Some Experiences of an Irish RM'.
