Surrounded by woodland, the property looks over unspoiled countryside, including a wild reed marsh, home to many bird species. Other wildlife abounds, supporting a great array of animals that would not generally be so easily observable in the wild. The lodge is situated beside an eighteenth century limekiln; when up-lit in the evening this bathes the large beech tree above it in warm light. A small stream issues from a large and picturesque lake; it cuts through an ancient wood bank and is spanned in the woodland garden by a stone bridge.
