Irish cottage accommodation in west of Ireland. This stone cottage is set in the courtyard of a private country house and beautiful estate 11 miles (18 km) from Galway city, capital of Ireland’s western province of Connaught. Mountains, forest, lake and parkland surround the property, which has a lovely walled garden and shared access to a tennis court, games room with snooker table and an indoor swimming pool. The cottage is a two storey house, approximately 200 years old, which has been lovingly restored – combining period features with contemporary comfort. There are views to a pretty lake, known for its coarse fishing. The wild beauty of Connemara lies just beyond. The estate was once the home of Violet Martin who, under the pseudonym Martin Ross, was one half of the writing partnership of Somerville and Ross, famed for their book ‘Some Experiences of an Irish RM’.

Ground floor: Arched French doors lead through the cut stone entrance into a hall. There are two bedrooms on this floor and a 30 ft x 12 ft games room with table tennis , TV and video.
Upstairs: Living/dining room with a medieval fireplace containing open gas fire; dining area seats 12. Fully equipped kitchen. Double ensuite bedroom. Twin ensuite bedroom. Two ensuite bedrooms where beds can be configured as double or two singles – whichever is requested in advance. All ensuites have heated towel rails and hairdryers. Television, VCR, telephone (by meter), oil fired central heating throughout, crib, high chair. Babysitting by arrangement. Cleaning and cooking staff may be available at additional cost for this cottage. We regret that this property is not suitable for pets.
