Description

East Tower:A private 3/4 mile  avenue swings to the right as you approach and leads you through an archway to a private courtyard with a wonderful fountain in the centre The tower is encircled by stone walls and buildings, some dating back to the Norman times. There are magnificent stone steps leading to the front door.  The East Tower  may be  available to rent on its own or with the larger castle. The property is situated in the heart of County Limerick and surrounded by 200 acres of farm and woodland. The local village is within walking distance.  

Inside,  a bright hallway with classic black and white tiles is your introduction to the Tower House. To the left are the cloakrooms. To the right, there is delightful dining room with beautiful old pine floor, and vast curved windows with a view of the Norman Tower House. The dining table can seat up to 25 people. The large kitchen is stylish, and modern, while retaining a traditional  flagstone floor. The dinng room table seats 12. Underfloor heating keeps the room warm and welcoming all day. The kitchen door leads out onto a large patio facing west with barbeque, herb garden fire pit. It is a lovely area in which to sit on a sunny evening. 

Accommodation information:

The East Tower Wing  may be rented independently or  with the larger castle. It is fully self-contained. The five bedrooms and bathrooms are furnished with an eclectic collection of antique and modern furniture collected by the family from all over the world.  Four  double rooms and one twin bedded room acommodate up to 10 guests. 

Ground floor:  The Kitchen is large, stylish, and modern. It has an American style fridge freezer with ice maker, a cooking range with gas hob and electric ovens, and two dishwashers. There are stainless steel worktops on the surfaces and black granite surrounds the cooker. There is also a wine cooler. The under-floor heating keeps the room warm and welcoming all day. The kitchen door leads out onto a large patio facing west with barbeque and herb garden.  Downstairs there is an amazing basement room, which we call the “pub” although it’s up to you to stock it with beverages! The Pub features stone walls built on to the foundation rocks  and hewn from the limestone hill on which the castle stands. A great room for a party!

Upper floors:  Upstairs the huge living room is elegantly and comfortably furnished. It has WIFI access, a large TV, DVD player and a stereo system.   The East Tower bedrooms are accessed by a beautiful wide spiral staircase which stretches from the first floor up to the 4th floor roof area.

Amenities in the area:

There is a wealth of things to see and do in the region.  If you  would prefer to stay on site, we can organise many activities: Irish musicians, storytellers, falconry, archery, boules, badminton, tennis, table tennis, snooker/pool and even a soccer pitch.
There is a playground at the organic farm where pigs and sheep roam freely. Please note that some of these amenaties may be available only when renting the East Towerandthe Main Castle together.  Golfers are well provided for with courses in Newcastlwest, Charleville and Adare. The Championship Links courses at Ballybunion are just over an hour away. Horse riding can be arranged at Clonshire Equestrian centre in Adare or pony trekking in the hills above Abbeyfeale. More cultural pursuits are available at Lough Gurwhich has the largest stone circle in Ireland.  In Limerick City one  can visit  the Hunt Museum, St. Mary's Catherdal andKing John's Castle.  BunrattyandKnappogue Castles are north ofLimrick City as are the wonderful Cliffs of Moher. Anglers can enjoy both coarse and game fishing in the local rivers and lakes.
