The luxurious main house dates from the 16th-century, and has an indoor heated swimming pool. All rooms are elegantly furnished and superbly comfortable, with wonderful views of the lake or garden. This was originally the property of the Martin family, a celebrated member being Violet Martin who, as Martin Ross, with her cousin Edith Somerville, wrote 'Some Experiences of an Irish RM'. In addition to the main house, there is a wing with four interconnecting apartments, which may be rented with the main house or separately. The main house is rented with full staff.

Park Wing has a further eight bedrooms and is independent of the manor house. In addition to the wing there are two courtyard cottages available to rent. In total up to 34 guests can be accommodated in 17 bedrooms (15 bathrooms) using all options. The wing and cottages are self-catering.
Not surprisingly, this is an ideal venue for family reunions, weddings and anniversaries.

Ross Castle is set on 120 acres of parkland. The grounds feature walled gardens, an orchard, inner and outer courtyards and a 16-acre park. There is a wide variety of specimen trees, and an unusual old greenhouse. A gardener's cottage and lime kiln are also worth a visit. The courtyard is enclosed by cottages built in the 16th, 17th and 18th century, and the Chapel has beautiful stained-glass windows. There is shared access to an indoor swimming pool, tennis court and the beautiful grounds.
Within 6.5 km (4 miles)- an 18-hole golf course, pony- trekking and Europe's largest free trout and salmon lake. Ideal touring base for Connemara. Boats to Aran Islands from Rossaveal.
